Marathon Meeting of the Council of Ministers, resulting in a five-year program

DILI, STLNEWS.co – The ninth constitutional government led by Prime Minister (PM) Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao, who held a marathon meeting of the Council of Ministers from July 3 to 9, 2023, produced a five-year programme that will be implemented within five years. The programme is immediately submitted to the National Parliament for approval.

Cabinet Minister of the Council of Ministers, Hermenegildo Augusto Cabral Pereira, said it after a Council meeting in the Government Office of Dili on Wednesday (12/7/2023).
 
He explained that the government, through a meeting of the Council of Ministers, approved the 9th Government Constitutional Programme, which summarises the main public policies to be implemented within five years.
 
“The programme will be submitted to the National Parliament for approval. The programme will strengthen and optimise the government sector and its resources and shorten the path pursued to transform the vision of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 2011–2030 Strategic Development Plan into reality.
 
For more than a week, Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao held a marathon meeting of the Council of Ministers to prepare the government’s five-year programmes.
 
“After a week of further discussions, the programme that the Prime Minister submitted to each member of the government was implemented, and today (Wednesday, 12 July 2023), The Council of Ministers approved the programmes that had been approved by the Council of Ministers.
 
The agreed programmes consist of six key areas: reaffirming democratic rule of law, social capital development, infrastructure development, economic development, consolidation of government, implementation of good governance, and commitment to combating corruption.
